[March 2024]

Greetings all, and welcome to the March (2024) update for Roguelike Games!

After beginning the year by showing you the intended content layout for the Uncanny and Gloom Editions of Moralinth (In the January and February updates respectively), we said we would return to our normal format for these developer blog updates, so here we are! This month the teams' attention has been primarily focused on the Gloom Edition of the game, working hard to interweave the setting and rules together to match the level of precision and quality we have achieved with the Uncanny Edition.

With the last of the three Pathfinder: Remastered Project books being released to the public (the Monster Core book), we finally now have all the tools to hand with which to create Moralinth Gloom Edition under the O.R.C. License! Having this information has been very liberating and we've been happily working non-stop to bring the Gloom Edition to life.

If you missed it or want to remind yourself what content can be found in the Gloom Edition of Moralinth, you can read all about it in February's update. In addition, this information can also be found in the "Gloom Edition Layout" section of our Discord.

If the Uncanny Edition of the game is more to your liking, you can review the content of that version in our January update blog. This information can also be found on our Discord under the "Uncanny Edition Layout" channel. The RLG Team are incredibly proud of how both versions of Moralinth are coming together to create the best gothic horror victoriana ttrpg out there!

Moralinth: Gloom Edition updates

March has been a big month for the Gloom Edition of Moralinth. With access to the three core Pathfinder Remastered books, we have been able to use the rules presented there and give them the distinctive 'Moralinth spin' thanks to the open nature of the O.R.C. License. We've been removing some rules, modifying some, and replacing others all while creating unique content for our setting to ensure it feels as close as possible to the Uncanny Edition. This is no small task, but one we're enjoying sinking our teeth into!

With the implementation of the new 'contents' update for the Gloom Edition that we released last month, the Gloom Edition Roadmap has had a complete rework. The Roadmap Update for the Gloom Edition this month will seem much larger than normal, but that is due to this restructuring.

Moralinth: Uncanny Edition updates

Back in August of 2023, we had the great pleasure to announce that the bulk of the writing for Moralinth: Uncanny Edition was (first draft) complete, constituting a major milestone in the progress of the project. Since then we have been doing re-writes, editing, and relocating some information into different sections (to align with what we presented in the January 2024 contents update). Seeing the whole book coming together is an amazing feeling and we can't wait to get it into your hands! To be more specific on what was worked this month, here is the...

Roguelike Community

FACEBOOK

The Moralinth Official Facebook Group is the place to visit for quick and concise updates for those who only want the summarised details of what is happening with Moralinth, and is a great place to see the artwork, lore snippets, and updates. We're looking to add more to it so that we can add extra information, but we need your help! What sort of things would you like to see included in the Facebook Group that isn't there already? Feel free to leave comments so we can know what is a priority for everyone - and make sure you tell your friends!

DISCORD:

For a more in-depth and interactive playground for all things Moralinth, you can head over to the Morlainth Official Discord Server. We're looking to foster the community and grow it out, and a few of the messages we've received of late have asked for more ways to interact with the game world as well as an increase in setting information. We're looking to try and grant both requests simultaneously, so keep an eye on Discord for more information! Feel free to invite anyone who you feel might want to follow the project but please remember they need to verify their account when they first join the server (you need to click the little "tick" to be granted the Uncanny role and gain access to all the Categories, Channels and Events).

Future Plans

April will again be focused on the Gloom Edition of the game, with the lion's share of the workload going into developing the Ancestries and Callings for Moralinth. Expect more specific content updates in the future, highlighting specific parts of the book to a higher degree. As the Characters of Moralinth are one of the main focal points, we will be looking to start with an in-depth feature review of the Ancestries: Clockworks, Enshrouded and Humans.

....and that wraps up our update for this month! Feel free to drop us a message or come visit us on our Facebook page or our Discord Group if you'd like! Until our next update,

Happy Gaming!

- Adam
