[August 2023]
Greetings all, and welcome to the August (2023) update for Roguelike Games!
Following the push on The Ties That Bind adventure (read more about that here), work has returned to normal here at RLG with the workflow being spread out across all areas of production for the books that will come together at the time of release of the Moralinth Gothic Horror RPG. The Uncanny edition of the game is now fully written as a 1st draft, and as such it is now being checked and edited before art and layout can be applied. We are extremely excited to show you all more content and it is starting to slot into place, so expect to see an influx of new material not only here but also on Facebook and Discord as well.
Moralinth: Uncanny Edition Updates
The writing for the Uncanny Edition is finally complete! It still needs art added, editing, and going through its design-layout process, but it's one hell of a milestone both personally and professionally. It might not be something that is often considered by the end-user but TTRPGs are usually made by large teams of people, and the Uncanny Edition has been done almost exclusively by muggins' here. Considering the book is just shy of 1,000 pages and is over 400,000 words long before art and layout, it's fair to say it is definitely full-on on the content front! It is a truly awesome feeling to see it in a playable state (although very bare-bones) and to know that the lion's share is now complete does put a big ol' smile on the face! From this point onward the Uncanny Edition moves primarily into a refining state where it will be tidied and polished, ready for release. One thing that has also become apparent from finishing this part of the project is that the Quickstart(s) will need to be slimmed down to contain only pertinent information as they are currently a little on the large side for a "quick-prep, quick-play" title.

Moralinth: Gloom Edition Updates:
November is fast approaching and with it, the release of the Pathfinder: Remastered Project. With the Gloom Edition of Moralinth being powered by a variant of this ruleset, we know that the Remastered Project is going to make some changes that we were looking to do ourselves, so rather than reinventing the wheel we are turning our attention to other parts of the book to focus on. Luckily the most recent title from Paizo, entitled Rage of Elements, utilizes the newly revised ruleset and in addition, Paizo released a Preview Document that explains in summary the changes being made to Pathfinder 2e for this new Remastered edition. This means the RLG team can step up a gear in production of the Gloom Edition without fear of having to worry about re-writing whole swathes of information to satisfy incoming rule changes. To that end, we're now feverishly working at converting everything that exists in the Uncanny Edition over to the Gloom Edition, making sure that it adapts to the new system without losing any of the signature Moralinth feel.

Moralinth Worldbook & Moralinth Quickstarts
Only very minor tweaks were made to the Moralinth Worldbook this month (for those not aware this is a supplemental product that delves into the geography of Moralinth and its cultures and is purely a lore/setting book - it does not utilize any rules to make it fully compatible with both the Uncanny and Gloom Editions of the game), but there was one rather large change - its name! "Worldbook" was mostly a working title placeholder for the book, but due to the fact it focuses on the eighteen-nation continent of the Estanian Empire (where the game is set), it has had its official name changed to The Imperial Encyclopedia Estania.
As mentioned previously, finishing work on the Uncanny Edition made it clear that the Quickstarts were too large to be used for the easy running of the Sleepers at Dockside adventure it came bundled with, so we have begun work on slimming it down into a more bite-sized document. The idea is to make it more accessible to new Narrators and Players while still giving a definitive first-time impression of what playing a Moralinth game should be like. More info to follow!

Roguelike Community
The Moralinth Official Facebook Group is the place to visit for quick and concise updates for those who only want the summarised details of what is happening with Moralinth, and is a great place to see the artwork, lore snippets, and updates. We're looking to add more to it so that we can add extra information, but we need your help! What sort of things would you like to see included in the Facebook Group that isn't there already? Feel free to leave comments so we can know what is a priority for everyone - and make sure you tell your friends!

DISCORD:
For a more in-depth and interactive playground for all things Moralinth, you can head over to the Morlainth Official Discord Server. We're looking to foster the community and grow it out, and a few of the messages we've received of late have asked for more ways to interact with the game world as well as an increase in setting information. We're looking to try and grant both requests simultaneously, so keep an eye on Discord for more information! Feel free to invite anyone who you feel might want to follow the project but please remember they need to verify their account when they first join the server (you need to click the little "tick" to be granted the Uncanny role and gain access to all the Categories, Channels and Events).
Future Plans
We continue to work on the Gloom Edition of Moralinth as we wait for the release Pathfinder 2e Remastered Project in November, but in the interim, we will also be looking to update the Moralinth: Gloom section of this website which has been relatively empty so far (as you can see here). This will be accomplished while editing and layout go ahead on the Uncanny Edition as we work tirelessly towards the release of this amazing TTRPG! At the end of the year (late November/early December we will also be pushing our marketing into overdrive in the hope of getting the good news out to as many people as possible, so get ready to tell your friends!
....and that wraps up our update for this month! Feel free to drop us a message or come visit us on our Facebook page or our Discord Group if you'd like! Until our next update,
Happy Gaming!
